Leap Day Sale and Dr. Seuss Giveaway

I am happy to announce that I will be participating in the TpT Leap Day Sale!  I'm offering 20% off my entire store on Tuesday!  Don't forget to use the promo code below to get an additional 10% off!
Okay my fellow blog buddies, I've been absolutely TERRIBLE with keeping up with you all lately.  Between my new job, soccer season, and life in general, my time has not been my own.  Soooo, to ease my furrowed brow (and because I LOVE Dr. Seuss), I am having my own little giveaway.  The first two people to leave a comment on this post will receive my fun-filled "Celebrating Dr. Seuss" thematic unit for FREE!

You can check it out on Teachers Pay Teachers here.

Good luck!

Color Discovery Bottles and Update

Wow!  My first week in 4K was AMAZING!  We were so busy, but they are learning so much!  I am looking forward to Dr. Seuss week this week.  Of course, we will be making Thing 1 and Thing 2 glyphs!

Some of my babies are still working on colors and visual discrimination, so I made these adorable color discovery bottles.
They began as Aqua Pod water bottles, then I added rice and colored items.

These are foam shapes, a star bead, a high five button, and  a crayon eraser.

The cute labels came from Barbara Kilburn's website here.  I tweaked a few so they would all be color bottles.

The students use sheets like this one to record what they find.  It's simple and to-the-point, and the children love finding and naming the shapes and colors!

Just in case you haven't heard of this product, Goo Gone quickly and easily removes all of the sticky label residue from the water bottles.  Have fun making your own color discovery bottles!

I got a job!

I am so excited right now!  Starting next week, I will be teaching in a 4K classroom to cover a six-week maternity leave.  I met the teacher and students yesterday, and they are awesome!  They do one hour of Montessori per day during center/small group time.  Otherwise, they follow the OWL curriculum.  Okay preschool and Montessori teachers, I am open to any suggestions and tips!  I cannot wait to get started! :)

Fun with American Symbols

I had loads of fun creating this bald eagle glyph to go along with my new "American Symbols" thematic unit!  Wouldn't you like to see these guys flying around your classroom or bulletin board?!
You can check it out the unit here or purchase the glyph separately here.

A big thanks to everyone who participated in the February giveaway, as well as all of you who sent positive thoughts my way regarding my sweet puppy!  She's making a wonderful recovery.
